Description:

5,6-Difluoroindoline-2,3-dione is a fluorine-containing compound that has been shown to stabilize DNA. It has a specific binding affinity for the 5-HT2C receptor in the brain and is thought to be an agonist of this receptor. The conformation of 5,6-difluoroindoline-2,3-dione may be due to the presence of fluorine atoms on its indol ring system. 5,6-Difluoroindoline-2,3-dione binds with high affinity to methyl groups and stabilizes them. This drug also has antihistamine effects and can act as an additive agent in pharmaceuticals. It is synthesized from indole and 3-(trimethylsilyl)acrylonitrile (TMSAN).
