2,4-Dichloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine is a functional compound that binds to the TrpV2 channel. It has been shown to inhibit insulin resistance in mice and rats by inhibiting the generation of reactive oxygen species. This compound is also used as an organometallic reagent for the synthesis of butyllithiums and lithium species. 2,4-Dichloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine is synthesized by modification of 2,4-dichloropyrimidine with trifluoroacetic acid chloride.
