Description

1,1-Diisopropoxycyclohexane is an organic compound with a functional group containing a hydroxy group. It is used as an antibacterial agent and has been shown to have active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. The antibacterial activity of 1,1-diisopropoxycyclohexane is due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the 16S ribosomal RNA in the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. This prevents protein synthesis and cell division. The stereoisomers of 1,1-diisopropoxycyclohexane include cis-(+), trans-(-) and racemic forms.
