- NSC 593
- Quinoline, 4,7-dichloro-
4,7-Dichloroquinoline is a member of the family of quinoline derivatives. It reacts with amines and undergoes chlorinating to produce aniline. 4,7-Dichloroquinoline has been used as a precursor for the synthesis of other quinoline compounds. 4,7-Dichloroquinoline is a nucleophilic reagent with pharmacokinetic properties that may be useful in the treatment of infectious diseases such as malaria. 4,7-Dichloroquinoline has been shown to disrupt mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibit electron transfer in vitro. This compound also has biological properties that make it an effective anti-malarial drug candidate.
