Product Information
1,3-Diethyl-5,6-aminouracil is a compound that has been shown to have antagonistic properties against adenosine receptors. It can be used for the treatment of conditions such as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is also used in the development of diagnostic tools for the study of adenosine receptor subtypes and their physiological effects. 1,3-Diethyl-5,6-aminouracil binds to adenosine receptors with high affinity and selectivity. This property has been exploited in the design of selective agonists or antagonists. A number of analogs have been synthesized with varying degrees of success. The covalent attachment of an acyl group to the 5 position of uracil has been shown to improve receptor binding by increasing its lipophilic character. This process is called acylation reaction.
