Description

3,5-Dibromo-2-hydroxy-N-phenylbenzamide is an antimicrobial agent that contains a hydroxyl group and is used as a poloxamer. 3,5-Dibromo-2-hydroxy-N-phenylbenzamide inhibits the growth of bacteria by disrupting the cell membrane and inhibiting protein synthesis. It has been shown to have antibacterial and antifungal activity against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans, respectively. This compound also has an effect on glucose regulation in cells due to its ability to inhibit insulin resistance. 3,5-Dibromo-2-hydroxybenzamide has also been shown to be a matrix enhancer for monomeric polymers.
