Description

Dichloroacetic acid is a chemical compound that is not soluble in water. It is used for analytical purposes to measure the concentration of sodium carbonate in liver samples. Dichloroacetic acid has been shown to induce liver lesions in rats and mice at high concentrations. This chemical may also be toxic to humans because it can cause metabolic disorders and affect the blood pressure. Dichloroacetic acid reacts with fluoroacetic acid to form trifluoroacetic acid, which is an intermediate product in the synthesis of polymers.
