Product Information
- Benzaldehyde, 4-[(2,6-Dichlorophenyl)Methoxy]-
4-[(2,6-Dichlorobenzyl)oxy]benzaldehyde is an anti-tuberculosis drug that belongs to the class of xanthines. It has been shown to be active against drug-resistant tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in vitro. The molecular docking studies revealed that this compound binds to the active site of mycobacterium tuberculosis. 4-[(2,6-Dichlorobenzyl)oxy]benzaldehyde inhibits the synthesis of DNA by competing with purine nucleoside triphosphates and prevents DNA polymerase from adding nucleotides to the growing strand of DNA. This compound also inhibits RNA synthesis by binding to ribosomes at their active sites and preventing protein synthesis.
