4-(2,4-Dimethylphenyl)-5-methyl-1,3-thiazol-2-amine (MT) is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. MT inhibits the activity of flavoproteins and long-chain fatty acid oxidation in e coli. MT is also a potent inhibitor of formate dehydrogenase and dehydrogenase in E. coli, which are enzymes involved in the process of energy production by oxidizing NADH to NAD+. This compound may be useful for the treatment of cancer or adenovirus infections.
