Description:

1,3-Difluoro-5-nitrobenzene (1,3-DFNB) is a nitro compound that can be used as an immobilizing agent. It has been shown to be effective in the immobilization of amines and other nucleophilic compounds. 1,3-DFNB is used in solid phase synthesis for the preparation of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. The experimental method for the production of 1,3-DFNB involves converting nitric acid into nitrous acid and then reacting this with fluoroacetic acid to produce fluorinated acetic acid. The reaction between fluorinated acetic acid and hydrogen chloride produces 1,3-DFNB. This chemical is highly toxic and should not be handled by unprotected workers.
