Description:
3,5-Dimethylisoxazole-4-carbaldehyde (DIMAC) is an analog of spengler's reagent. It reacts with aldehydes in the presence of chlorotrimethylsilane to form dioxolanes. The reaction is catalyzed by acid or base and proceeds efficiently under mild conditions. DIMAC is structurally similar to other spengler reagents and can be used as an efficient synthetic intermediate for the preparation of other spengler reagents.
