2,3-Dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoxaline-6-sulfonyl chloride is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the enzyme Gyrase. This drug binds to the DNA of gram-negative bacteria and prevents the replication of bacterial DNA. 2,3-Dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoxaline-6-sulfonyl chloride has been shown to be effective against isolates resistant to chloramphenicol and ampicillin. It also has a high degree of antimicrobial activity against a wide range of gram negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
