(1E)-1-(2,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)ethanone oxime is a selective and catalytic molybdenum-oxo compound that has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the oxidation of anions. The thermal denaturation of this compound has been studied by electrochemical studies. It is insoluble in water and organic solvents. This compound can be used as a ligand in supramolecular chemistry, or it can be cleaved to form dihydroxybenzene derivatives. (1E)-1-(2,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)ethanone oxime is also capable of cleaving naphthalene rings and reacting with alcohols to produce phenols.
