Product Information
- 1(2H)-Pyrimidineacetic acid, 3,4-dihydro-2,4-dioxo-
2,4-Dioxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-1(2H)-yl)acetic acid is a reactive nitrogen containing compound that has been shown to induce apoptotic cell death in the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line. It does this by binding to chloride and then forming a copper complex. This process creates free radicals that damage DNA and lead to cell death. 2,4-Dioxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-1(2H)-yl)acetic acid also binds to nucleobases, which are the building blocks of DNA. This molecule can be found in water vapor and is neutral at a pH of 7. The carboxylate group makes it acidic at low pH values (5).
