5-(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)-2-furaldehyde is a natural product that inhibits the bc1 complex. It has been shown to be effective against phytopathogenic fungi such as Phytophthora cinerea and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. 5-(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)-2-furaldehyde has been shown to be active against sclerotiorum in a porcine model and has been shown to inhibit the growth of sclerotinia in both plant and soil models. 5-(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)-2-furaldehyde is also being investigated for use in the development of anti-sclerotic agents.
