Product Information
- 2-propenoic acid
- 3-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-
- (2E)-
2,6-Dichlorocinnamic acid is a metabolite of the ester salmeterol. It is an inhibitor of leukotriene synthesis, which may be related to its anti-inflammatory properties. 2,6-Dichlorocinnamic acid has the ability to react with singlet oxygen and produce reactive oxygen species that can cause cell death. It also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in inflammation and bronchoconstriction. 2,6-Dichlorocinnamic acid has been used as a fluorescent probe for the detection of oxygen in organic solvents. The compound's photocyclization properties have been used to investigate the mechanism of photoreaction.
