2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-nitrosophenol is a synthetic compound that is used as a corrosion inhibitor and an antioxidant. It has been shown to be effective against nitrite, chloride, triazine, and proton nmr. The UV spectrum of 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-nitrosophenol exhibits strong absorption in the region of 240 nm to 260 nm. This spectrum shows that this compound contains a phenolic group with an attached cyanuric chloride residue. The uv spectrum also shows that 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-nitrosophenol exhibits fluorescence at about 320 nm when irradiated by light.
