3,5-Dichloro-1,2,4-thiadiazole (3,5-DCT) is a heterocyclic organic compound that has been used as a precursor in the synthesis of other compounds. The compound has two sets of frequency bands at 6.8 and 4.7 cm−1 which are attributed to the vibration of the sulfur and chlorine atoms respectively. 3,5-DCT can be formed from sulfide, chlorine and uv irradiation or by pseudohalide reactions with temperatures ranging from −10°C to 100°C. Crystals of 3,5-DCT have been obtained by crystallization from dimethylsulfoxide at −10°C or by recrystallization from ethanol at room temperature. 3,5-DCT is an aromatic compound with a chemical formula C6H4Cl2S2. This compound is soluble in water and alcohol but insoluble in ether or petroleum ether.
