Product Information

Name:
3,5-Di methoxy benzyl chloride
Synonyms:
  • 3,5-Dimethyoxybenzyl chloride
  • 3,5-Dimethoxy benzyl chloride
Description:

The reaction solution of 3,5-di methoxy benzyl chloride is a mixture of two compounds: pterostilbene and trimethyl. Pterostilbene is a natural product obtained from plants and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. Trimethyl is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of acridone and hydroxyl group. It can be synthesized by reacting n-dimethyl formamide with aluminium chloride, followed by hydrolysis with water. The reaction product that can be obtained using this process is trimethyl acetate, which reacts with silver ions to produce trimethyl silver chloride. The structure of the compound was determined using x-ray crystallography.
