Description:

3,5-Dibromo-1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole is an organic compound used as a building block in organic synthesis. It is a dihalogenated alkenyl compound that can be reduced to the corresponding hydrocarbon. 3,5-Dibromo-1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole can be synthesized by a cross coupling reaction with an azide and boron trichloride. The reduction of 3,5-dibromo-1 methyl 1H 1,2,4 triazole occurs with sodium metal or lithium aluminum hydride followed by acidification of the solution to yield 2-(3′,5′ Dibromo)propyl methanesulfonate. This chemical intermediate is then reacted with an amine to produce triazole.
