Description:
5,7-Dimethyl[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-2-sulfonyl chloride is a sulfonamide that has substituents at positions 5 and 7. This drug inhibits nitrification by inhibiting the oxidation of ammonium to nitrite and nitrate. It also inhibits the conversion of ammonia to nitrate by bacteria in soil. The cyclic structure is an intermediate for the synthesis of other sulfonamides.
