Product Information

Name:
Degalactotigonin
Description:

Degalactotigonin is a cyclin D2 inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. It has also been shown to have antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Degalactotigonin belongs to the natural compounds, which are produced by plants, fungi, and bacteria. The exact target enzymes for degalactotigonin are not yet known, but it is believed to be a potential drug target. There is also some evidence suggesting that it may be a biomarker for cancerous cells due to its up-regulation in cancer tissues. Degalactotigonin inhibits p21 protein synthesis by binding to the hydroxyl group on the enzyme's active site. This binding prevents the formation of an enzyme-substrate complex that is required for protein synthesis and cell division.
