3,4-Dihydro-1,4-benzoxazepin-5(2H)-one is a synthetic intermediate that can be used in the synthesis of protein kinase inhibitors. The compound was found to have a lowering effect on intraocular pressure (IOP) in animal models and may be useful for the treatment of glaucoma. The compound also has an inhibitory effect on class I, II, IV and V protein kinases. 3,4-Dihydro-1,4-benzoxazepin-5(2H)-one is selective for rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK), which is implicated in glaucoma pathology. This compound does not inhibit cyclooxygenase or lipoxygenase enzymes, which are key enzymes involved in inflammatory processes.
