Description:
2,6-Dimethyl-isonicotinic acid (2,6-DMIC) is a bioavailable and orally active CCR5 receptor antagonist. 2,6-DMIC binds to the CCR5 receptor and inhibits the binding of HIV-1 to the receptor. The affinity of 2,6-DMIC for CCR5 receptors is significantly higher than that of maraviroc. This drug has shown potent anti-HIV activity in vitro and in vivo.
