4,7-Dimethyl-1,3-benzothiazol-2-amine is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer properties. It has been found to be effective against cancer cells in vitro. This drug also inhibits the synthesis of glutamine and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) by binding to the enzyme, which decreases the production of nucleotides needed for DNA and RNA synthesis. 4,7-Dimethyl-1,3-benzothiazol-2-amine also binds to sulfamic acid and inhibits the activity of glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH), an enzyme that is responsible for converting amino acids into energy. The molecule also has been shown to inhibit the activity of cancer cells in vivo, as well as increase neutrophil activity.
