4,7-Dichlorothieno[2,3-d]pyridazine is a phosphorescent compound with a yellow color. It has an emission peak at 586 nm and quantum yields of 0.078 and 0.084 for the first and second excited singlet states respectively. The ground state is triplet with a lifetime of about 1 microsecond. 4,7-Dichlorothieno[2,3-d]pyridazine is thermally stable up to about 300 °C and it has high stability in organic solvents like chloroform or pyridine. This compound can be used as a chelating ligand for transition metals such as Iridium (III) or Ruthenium (II). It also shows high efficiency in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs).
