Description:
2,2-Dimethyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxylic acid is a heterocyclic compound that is formed by the pyrolysis of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane. It can also be produced by the hydration of 3-methylpentane. 2,2-Dimethyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxylic acid is used in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals. It is also used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. 2,2-Dimethyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxylic acid reacts with chloride to form a chlorinated derivative of this compound.
