10,13-Dibromodibenzo[a,c]phenazine is a brominated aromatic compound that can be used to synthesize organic compounds for heterojunction photovoltaic devices. It has been shown to have high fluorescence lifetimes and can be used as an acceptor in organic solar cells. 10,13-Dibromodibenzo[a,c]phenazine was synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction of 3-bromo-5-chlorobenzaldehyde and 2-aminophenol with copper (II) chloride in refluxing ethanol. The product was purified using gel permeation chromatography. This compound has been shown to form copolymers with tetrazole monomers in a cross-coupling reaction, which may be useful for the synthesis of luminophores.
