Dioctyl adipate is a chemical reagent that is used for the preparation of phosphotungstic acid. It has been shown to be an effective model system for the study of fatty acids and metal hydroxides. It has also been used as a polymerization initiator in polyvinyl chloride. Dioctyl adipate is soluble in organic solvents and its optimum concentration is between 10-50mg/ml. This chemical reagent has clinical properties that are similar to those of glycol esters and diazonium salts, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.
Dioctyl adipate is a colorless liquid with a boiling point at 280°C, a melting point at -10°C, and a flashpoint at 93°C.
