Nuvenzepine is an antimuscarinic drug that is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as muscle tremors. Nuvenzepine binds to the muscarinic M3 receptor and prevents acetylcholine from binding to its receptor, thereby inhibiting the release of substances such as histamine and gastric acid. It also inhibits salivation. Nuvenzepine has been shown to be effective in treating symptoms of hiv infection by antagonizing the muscarinic M3 receptor which controls gastrointestinal motility, salivation, and secretions.
