Description:

2,5-Dichlorothiophene-3-carboxylic acid is a triazine. It is a supramolecular anion that has been found to interact with cations and carboxylates. The interaction of 2,5-Dichlorothiophene-3-carboxylic acid with pyrimethamine has been studied using cocrystal X-ray diffraction studies. These studies have shown that the carboxylate group of 2,5-Dichlorothiophene-3-carboxylic acid interacts with the pyrimethamine molecule through hydrogen bonds. This interaction may be due to the close proximity of these two molecules in the crystal lattice.
