4,5-Dihydro-4-oxofuro[3,2-c]pyridine is a photocycloaddition product of acrylonitrile and cyclopentadiene. It has been used to study the reactivity of carbonyl groups in nucleophilic substitution reactions. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum of 4,5-dihydro-4-oxofuro[3,2-c]pyridine consists of two signals at δ=7.32 and 7.07 ppm. These signals correspond to the two possible diastereomers of this compound:
The C=O group is observed at δ=157 ppm in this compound's 13C NMR spectrum. This signal corresponds to the signal for the carbon atom attached to the double bond in the molecule. The magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) shows that 4,5-dihydro-4-
