Product Information
Diethyl (2-amino-2-oxoethyl)phosphonate is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the enzyme carboxy, which is involved in the synthesis of muscle proteins. Diethyl (2-amino-2-oxoethyl)phosphonate has been shown to be effective against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. It also has a high degree of stereoselectivity, meaning it binds selectively to one enantiomer of the enzyme carboxy. This inhibition prevents the formation of muscle proteins, leading to cell death. The mechanism of action for diethyl (2-amino-2-oxoethyl)phosphonate is similar to that of other antibiotics such as penicillin and erythromycin.
