The coordination geometry of 2,6-Dibromoisonicotinic acid is tetrahedral with a pyridine nitrogen atom at the centre, which coordinates to the lanthanide ion. 2,6-Dibromoisonicotinic acid has antimycobacterial activity and inhibits cancer cell proliferation in vitro. This compound is also used as an experimental probe for studying the role of pyridine rings in biological systems.
