6,7-Dimethoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline is a chemical compound in the class of aromatic hydrocarbons. It is produced by the demethylation of isoquinoline with hydrochloric acid and dimethyl fumarate. The reaction solution was heated to produce a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 132°C at 0.2mmHg pressure. The photophysical properties of this compound have been studied using phosphorus pentachloride and chemical reactions with halides such as bromine, chlorine, iodine, and fluorine. 6,7-Dimethoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline also reacts with allyl bromide to form dihydroisoquinoline and phosphotungstic acid. This molecule has two methoxy groups on its structure.
