Description

4,7-Dibromo-3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid is a synthetic compound that is used in the preparation of samples for elemental analysis. It has been shown to have anticancer activity against muscle cells and to be stabilizing to DNA. This compound also has been shown to inhibit the growth of mosquito larvae. Coumarin derivatives are often found in perfumes, which may be why this compound has an allosteric modulatory effect on mcf-7. 4,7-Dibromo-3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid can be considered an oxygenated derivative of naphthalene.
