Product Information
- 4-(Dimethylamino)Phenethyl Alcohol
- 2-(4-Dimethylaminophenyl)-ethanol
2-(4-(Dimethylamino)phenyl)ethanol is a fluorescent dye used in diagnostic tests. When 2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethanol is applied to the skin, it reacts with an acrylate polymer matrix to produce a fluorescence that can be detected by a special camera. This dye has been approved for use in diagnosis of flexural and premolar teeth and for detecting preexisting dental restorations. The dye can also be used for orthopedic diagnosis, as it produces a fluorescence when applied to the acrylic bone cement used in orthopedic prostheses. Clinical studies have shown that 2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethanol does not cause any allergic reactions or irritate the skin, so it is safe for use on patients.
