4,6-Dibromobenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine (DBT) is a hydrophobic organic compound that can be used as a dye. It is synthesized by the diazotization of 4,6-dibromobenzoyl chloride with sodium nitrite in an organic solvent. This reaction produces a colorless solution that changes to yellow when reacted with an acid. The reaction product is then coupled with an alkyl group to form a new molecule.
