Diammonium EDTA is a cationic surfactant that is used in the production of optical lenses. It has been shown to have antimicrobial properties and can be used as an additive for water treatment, as well as an agent for the removal of corrosion inhibitors and fatty acids from industrial wastewater. Diammonium EDTA prevents microbial growth by binding to and removing active substances such as malic acid, polycarboxylic acid, or chloride. Diammonium EDTA is also effective against light-sensitive microbes such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
