Description:
N,N-Dimethyl-2-phenoxyethanamine is an ethylamine derivative and a drug candidate for wastewater treatment. It has been shown to be effective against a range of bacteria and is able to inhibit the growth of wild-type strains of these organisms. The mechanism of action is not known, but N,N-dimethyl-2-phenoxyethanamine may bind to the surface of the bacterial membrane and alter its permeability. This drug also inhibits the synthesis of p-nitrophenyl phosphate, which is an important intermediate in bacterial metabolism.
