Description:

1-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)urea is a chemical compound that binds to the receptor on bacteria and disrupts their ability to metabolize carbon sources. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of a number of bacterial strains, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 1-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)urea also inhibits pesticide activity in plants by inhibiting cytochrome P450 enzymes that are responsible for activating these compounds. This chemical can be found in ganoderma lucidum (known as ling zhi or reishi mushroom), which has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine for centuries.
