Description:
The compound 3,4-Dihydropyrido[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-one is a demethylation inhibitor. It has been shown to be an efficient method for profiling histones and lysine residues in cells. The compound inhibits the binding of the enzyme DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) to its substrate, which is necessary for methylation of DNA. This inhibition leads to increased levels of methylated histones and lysine residues in cells. The compound also inhibits the binding of DNMT to other proteins that are important for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. These activities suggest that 3,4-Dihydropyrido[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-one may be a potent cancer therapy as well as a potential treatment for bladder cancer.
