Product Information
4,5-Dimethoxy-2-methylaniline is a precursor to the amino acid lysine. It can be converted to the amino acid by coupling with an appropriate reducing agent (e.g., sodium borohydride) and then acetylating the resulting amide group with acetic anhydride. The oxidation of 4,5-dimethoxy-2-methylaniline produces hydrogenated products such as 4,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 4,5-dimethoxyphenol. These products may be used in synthesizing other aromatic compounds. It is also stable under enzymatic hydrogenolysis conditions.
