Product Information

Name:
2’-Deoxy-6-azauridine
Description:

2’-Deoxy-6-azauridine is a pyrimidine nucleoside that is structurally similar to thymidylate. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity and can be used as an analog for the treatment of tuberculosis. The molecular modeling of 2’-deoxy-6-azauridine shows that it binds to the active site of bacterial enzymes, such as DNA gyrase and thymidylate synthase, which are involved in the synthesis of DNA. This binding prevents the bacterial enzymes from synthesizing DNA and RNA, leading to cell death.
2′-Deoxy-6′-azauridine also inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting ribonucleotide reductase, which reduces ribonucleotides into deoxyribonucleotides. This inhibition leads to a decrease in dNTPs and an increase in dNMPs, causing a depletion of nucleotides necessary for DNA synthesis and
