Product Information
3,5-Diphenyl pyridine is a chelate ligand that has been investigated for its photophysical, transport properties and ester linkages. 3,5-Diphenyl pyridine absorbs light at wavelengths of 275 nm and 350 nm. This chelate ligand also has an emission maximum at 440 nm. The hydrochloric acid solvated form of this compound can be crystallized from the reaction between trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and 3,5-dichloropyridine in a model system. The crystal structure of this compound was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The molecule has two hydrogen bonds with the solvent molecules TFA or HCl.
3,5-Diphenyl pyridine has been used as a fluorescent probe to study biochemical properties such as enzyme activity and glucose uptake. It can also be used as a structural element in crystallography studies because of its strong hydrogen bonding ability
