1,2-Diiodobenzene is a molecule with two iodine atoms that can be used to make nanoribbons of 1,2-diiodobenzene. The molecule has a high degree of symmetry and does not change in structure when it undergoes reactions. 1,2-Diiodobenzene has been shown to be effective for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and amines. The molecule binds to receptors on the surface of cells and blocks the production of proinflammatory cytokines by inhibiting transcription factors. Palladium complexes have been shown to catalyze the coupling reaction with 1,2-diiodobenzene to form polymer films.
