Description

Direct black 91 is a diazo dye that is used as a pigment in inks, paints and plastics. The congener has an electronic spectrum with the following features:

N-N=C-C=N

The alkali metal atom (Na, K) is situated at the centre of the molecule. There are two integer values for the number of carbon atoms (2). The organic solvent is a polar solvent, such as alcohols or ethers. The chromophore is a salicylic acid group. The particle size is greater than 10 micrometres. The substance has a low viscosity and light resistance. It also exhibits surfactant properties and can be mixed with other substances to create dispersions or emulsions.
