Product Information
- Piperidine, 2,4-dimethyl-
- Nsc 8693
2,4-Dimethylpiperidine is a natural product that is produced by extracting and filtering the liquid from a reaction of molybdate and piperidine. The molecule has been shown to bind to silicon and Iodide ions with high affinity. 2,4-Dimethylpiperidine has also been shown to have reductive elimination properties, which can be used for the synthesis of other organic compounds. 2,4-Dimethylpiperidine is structurally similar to pyrrolidones and piperidines. It has been found to be a ligand for metal ions such as molybdenum and tungsten. 2,4-Dimethylpiperidine also interacts with chromatographic media due to its hydrophobic character.
2,4-Dimethylpiperidine is synthesized in an oxidation process that occurs through the addition of hydrogen peroxide (HOOH) or sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl).
