Product Information
- Phosphoricacid, 2-chloro-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethenyl dimethyl ester, (E)-
- (E)-Dimethylvinphos
Dimethylvinphos is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has been used as an insecticide and acaricide. It is a transport inhibitor with the ability to bind to fatty acids and aryl halides. Dimethylvinphos inhibits acetylcholinesterase activity in insects, leading to paralysis and death. The compound also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme that controls the transport of amino acids across the cell membrane. Dimethylvinphos has been shown to be effective against strains of bacteria such as Salmonella typhimurium and Bacillus cereus, but not Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
