2,5-Dichlorobenzylamine is an amine that has been used as a substrate for enzymes such as N-acetyltransferase and acetylcholinesterase. It reacts with acetic acid or acetic anhydride to form the corresponding ester or amide, respectively. 2,5-Dichlorobenzylamine is also useful in immobilization of enzymes on biochips and matrices. This compound can be modified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI MS) and other methods to generate tools for use in assays.
